The Morning After

A Sequel to To Road to Redemption.

Her fingers brushed passed his much larger ones, slightly tracing the cut marks where she supposed the glass pieces left their mark after they met his brutal force.

She was comfortably perched on top of him, her head on his chest, her ears intently listening to his heartbeat or was it hers, she could never be sure.

He in turn was playing with her silky tresses, running is hands through the traitorous hair which always taunted him for its close proximity with Khushi.

They revelled in the silence, bathed in the comfort of each other's presence. If it was in their hands they would have stayed in that exact same position for the rest of their days, but alas it was nearing the wee hours of the morning.

With a slight sigh that made his chest rise and with it Khushi, who immediately looked up at him with her wide eyes, he said,

"I should probably clean this place up.."

A small giggle escaped her, breaking the warm ambience that surrounded them. A small smile rested on his face as he looked at her sheepishly.

"Itna gussa… Arnav-ji if someone was to walk into this room sure shot they would assume a mad-man lived here…." Her eyes were shining with mirth and she felt a sudden lightness as another fit of giggles took over her.

" 's not 'unny…" Came his muffled voice as he buried his face in her hair.

"When will the rest be coming back?" Khushi asked.

"Tomorrow… or should I say today…."

That jolted Khushi and she suddenly sat up letting the covers fall off revealing creamy skin to his hungry eyes. When she noticed that his eyes were definitely not looking into her eyes any more she scowled.

"Besharam….. My eyes are up here…" She grumbled bringing up the covers.

"That's not what you said a couple of hours ago…" His smirk was firmly in place.

"Shut up…"

"I am sorry, Did you just ask Arnav Sigh Raizada to shut up?" He grabbed her in one swift moment, trapping her beneath him as his face loomed over hers.

"Bua-ji…"

It was Arnav's turn to groan.

"Khushi please don't tell me you're thinking about Bua-ji when I have you pinned below me…."

"I was thinking.."

"That's not good either.. why think when there's so much to feel…?"

"Do you want to know or not?" She said with a slight huff.

He sighed and slid off her, lying down next to her and looking up at the roof just like she was.

"What are we going to tell them all?"

"Tell them what?"

"This, us…"She said gesturing between them.

He turned to look at her, contemplating.

"We could tell them the truth."

"What that I came here to see you after not seeing you for three months after our fake marriage which was actually real but you were being a jerk and I walked off and that after seeing you I succumbed to a night of passion with a man I am not even married to now…" Her tone was light and mildly amused.

He stiffened next to which cause her to look at him.

"Arnav-ji?"

"Not technically…."

Her eyes-brows rose in confusion.

"Technically, we're…. still…. Married."

"WHAT?" Her moth shot open and her eyes-brows went right up to her hairline.

"You know… you.. have to sign divorce papers for a marriage to end.. which you didn't… I mean I didn't give you one to sign… because I was too possessive… so…hmm" He muttered not looking into her eyes.

"So what you're saying is that I am still very much Khushi Kumari Gupta- Singh Raizada?"

"Yes, technically."

She shot out of bed and grabbed the closest piece of clothing next to her, his shirt, and wore it. She glared at him for a few more minutes and walked around gathering her clothes mutting things like- Laad Governor, raakshas, thinks he owns the damn world, I hope he drowns in his bath-tub.

"Khushi?"

"What?" Her tone was still clipped.

"So are you coming back to bed?" Once a man always a man and Arnav Singh Raizada was no exception.

"Over. My. Dead. Body." He flinched at her harsh words.

She marched over to him and glared at him as a sudden glint lit up her eyes.

"You listen to me Mr Arnav Sigh Raizada and listen carefully…"

He gulped.

"We're still married and I can't change that fact so it's time to tell the family the real truth… but…"

"But..?" He uncertainly asked.

"But before we do that… you have to court me…" She folded her arms in front of her as she now regarded him carefully.

"We're already married…." He stated.

She continued without paying any attention to him.

"I want everything… roses.. candle light dinners… walks under the stars … the whole package…."

"But I am Arnav Singh Raizada… I don't do romance…." He stated bluntly.

"Do I look like I care…?" She retorted just as blunt.

He looked at her seriously, when it dawned on him.

"New memories?"

Her face broke into the biggest of grins as he finally caught on.

"New memories." Her entire heart filled with warmth at the thought of spending time with him, a girlish pleasure rose in her threatening to bubble over.

"So you are you coming back to bed now?"

His only answer was a Ladd Governor and his shoe which was vaguely chucked in his direction as his wife stormed off shutting the bath room door behind her.
